DeGPT FAQ

DeGPT is a small utility that cleans up AI-generated text (especially from ChatGPT) so you can paste it into other tools without broken formatting or sensitive information.

Chrome Extension (fastest):

1. Install the DeGPT Chrome extension.
2. Go to chatgpt.com and get a response.
3. Click the DeGPT button next to any response - cleaned text is copied instantly.

In ChatGPT:

1. Get any response from ChatGPT.
2. Say "DeGPT it" or "Clean this for email" (or Word, Slack, etc.).
3. Copy the cleaned result and paste it anywhere.

Via the web app:

1. Copy text from ChatGPT (or any LLM).
2. Paste it into DeGPT at degpt.app.
3. Choose the toggles you want (formatting fixes, markdown removal, PII hiding, etc.).
4. Copy the cleaned result and paste it into your target app.

Depending on your settings, DeGPT can help with:

• Bullets and numbered lists that break when pasted
• Weird spacing or line breaks
• Unwanted markdown characters (#, *, ```)
• Over-polite intros and outros ("Certainly! Here's a detailed guide…")
• Common patterns of personal or company information that you want to remove before sharing

By default:

• We process your text in memory only to generate the cleaned output.
• We do not store your raw content or use it to train models.
• We may store anonymous counts (e.g. how many times a toggle is used) to improve the product.

DeGPT is designed to be language-agnostic. It works best on:

• English
• Major European languages (Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, etc.)
• Any language that uses similar punctuation conventions for bullets, headings, and sentences

For PII removal and company detection, results are strongest in English and may vary in other languages.

Yes. If you can copy text, you can paste it into DeGPT:

• Claude, Gemini, and other AI tools
• Internal LLM apps
• Anywhere else you generate text that later needs to be pasted into Word, Docs, Slides, Notion, etc.

No. DeGPT focuses on presentation and obvious sensitive details, not content.

• It doesn't rewrite sentences or change tone.
• It won't "improve" your writing style.
• It only removes or normalises things you explicitly opt into (like markdown, PII, certain punctuation).

We love edge cases.
